Maintaining Your New Car
You’ve done it. You’ve taken the leap and bought your very own car. You’ve taken time to read the owner manual, and you’ve driven the car up and down the block a few times, just to show the neighbors. It sure feels good driving your new car.
In Ontario, people believe that the best part about buying a new car is knowing that it’s going to be trouble-free for a while. However, every new car owner should know that a car functions as well as the owner maintains it. And while your new car may be reassuringly trouble-free for a while, there are still some things that you must remember to keep it that way for a little longer.
Most car owners often do three tasks for car maintenance: checking engine oil, checking the air pressure in the tires, and washing your car. These three tasks make sure that your car, along with its engine, remains in good shape.
It’s important to check the engine’s oil level once or twice a month. By making sure that the engine has sufficient oil, you can avoid costly engine repairs or overhauls. Make sure that you don’t overfill the engine bay with oil. Don’t hesitate to ask for help from a Burlington car service shop or any reputable shop near you if it’s your first time to refill engine oil. You can also have auto repair experts to check for oil leaks.
Moreover, every car owner must own a tire-pressure gauge. This gauge lets you check the inflation pressure in each tire, to see if your tires are working under the manufacturer-prescribed inflation pressure. If not, you may need to increase or decrease pressure by having air pumped in or let out of the tires. Burlington car service specialists recommend that you check your tire pressure at least once a month, before any long road trips, and whenever the tires are cold.
Your car must also be washed every week, to keep it looking as if you bought it with a Burlington car loan just yesterday. Removing dirt and road salt from the car’s body, fender wells, and undercarriage keeps your car rust-free. This helps you avoid the costs of having to replace prematurely damaged car parts.
